Stations of the Cross
FIRST STATION:
Jesus is condemned to death.
Jesus is brought to stand in front of Pontius Pilate, the judge. He is innocent but Pontius Pilate condemns him anyway and sentences Him to death.

SECOND STATION:
Jesus carries His cross.
Some soldiers gave a crown of thorns to Jesus, put a red cloak on Him, and mocked Him. Then Jesus is given a cross to carry to Calvary Hill.

THIRD STATION:
Jesus falls for the first time.
Jesus falls for the first time because he had been walking in the hot sun and had lost too much blood from the crown of thorns. He was whipped and beaten but then got up.

Jesus meets His mother.
Jesus meets his mother on the side of the road to Calvary. She tries to get Him to stop but she can't.

FIFTH STATION:
Simon of Cyrene helps Jesus carry His cross.
Simon of Cyrene, a total stranger, gets called up to help Jesus carry His cross. Simon was forced to do this but probably had never even heard of Jesus.

Veronica wipes the face of Jesus
Veronica goes up to Jesus and wipes His face. The part of the cloth that touched Jesus' face was blessed with an imprint of His face.

By this time Jesus had started to grow tired from the walking and the heat of the sun. He tripped and fell again and was beaten again but still got up.

Jesus speaks to the women of Jerusalem.
After falling for the second time Jesus came upon a crowd of women from Jerusalem who were crying for Him. He told them to cry not for Him but to cry for their sins.

Jesus falls for the third time.
Jesus falls yet again from the weight of the cross and the tiring long walk. He was yet again beaten but got up again.

TENTH STATION:
Jesus is stripped of his garments.
When Jesus reached the top of Calvary he was stripped of His clothes all except one undergarment. Later the soldiers rolled a die to see what part of Jesus' clothes they would get.

Jesus is nailed to the cross.
After being stripped of His clothes Jesus was nailed to the cross. They nailed His hands and feet to the cross but nothing else.

Jesus dies on the cross.
Not long had passed when Jesus said His last words and died on the cross. He died much sooner than many crucified people did because when some soldiers came over to break His legs to make Him die quicker He had already died.

Jesus is taken down from the cross.
Jesus was taken down from the cross and lain at the feet of His holy mother Mary. She wept for Him and missed Him greatly.

Jesus is laid in the tomb.
Joseph of Arimathea lent Jesus his tomb because he hadn't died yet and after Jesus was laid in the tomb a large boulder was rolled across the opening so that thieves couldn't break in. The tomb was also guarded by a soldier so that Jesus' disciples couldn't come and take the body saying that He had risen.
