As you read create a list of Buck's stops on his journey. You will use this list to create a map of the west coast, from the Yukon Territory to San Diego to mark places along that map mentioned in the novel and see how far Buck travels on his journey.
Places Stopped:
1.) Santa Clara - Home wih Judge Miller and his family
2.) San Francisco - Manuel sells Buck for $150.00 and Buck is put on a train
3.) Seattle, WA - Buck gets off the train and is given to a man in a red sweater
4.) North (Alaska) - Buck is sold to Perrault and Francois for $300.00
5.) Pass through Chilcoot Divide and camp at Lake Bennett on their journey North, headed to Dyea Beach, AK
6.) The shore of Lake Le Barge, Alaska
7.) Dawson, Alaska
8.) Skaguay, Alaska
9.) John Thornton's Camp at the mouth of White River, Alaska
10.) In a broad valley in Alaska

I am not surprised by the distance Buck traveled because in the book it sounded like a long way.
